Swerve is a new work for voices and strings inspired by conversations with long term Goulburn Valley Pride Shepparton volunteer Jenni George. With text by poet Leona Cohen, as well as verbatim interviews and additional text by the composer, 'Swerve' takes inspiration from Jenni's life as a driver of all manner of vehicles, and the conversations and revelations we have on the road. It forms part of the RESPECT project, 'writing our queer histories down, and singing them out loud!'
'Queerness historically is not archived … we've been left out of the history books for a really long time. That kind of erasure runs deep'. ABC news, Singing the life stories of regional LGBTQI+ Victorians into the history books
