HERD [Melbourne - in development, 2022/23]
a wreckedAllprods production with Alyson Campbell, Meta Cohen, Peta Murray and Lachlan Philpott.
I turn my head
You turn your head
We turn our heads
Do you worry that away from the middle
The same thing will happen to you?
HERD is a new work of queer music theatre – an unapologetic provocation for our times and a sharp examination of what unites us as a queer community and where we diverge. Springing off Lachlan Philpott’s 20-year-old play Bison, this new work expands outwards, opening up its metaphor of the gay male herd to consider herding and herdlike behaviours, kinship, discrimination and isolation in the wider, more diverse LGBTQIA+ community.
HERD gained funding from Theatre Works, Creative Agency, RMIT and Creative Victoria towards an initial development leading to a Work in Progress showing at Theatre Works (April 25, 2021). It now has funding for a second development from the City of Port Phillip and a Hothouse Greenhouse National Residency Program, alongside further funding and partnership with Theatre Works.

PROMISCUOUS/CITIES [London: UK/Australia Season 2022]
A wreckedAllprods production, as part of the British Council's UK/Australia Season
They’ve written endless songs about this city.
Can you feel the street’s pulse, how it rushes through your veins like a drug?
He’s in trouble, she’s falling in love, they’re cheating, she’s trapped and he’s alone.
But keep moving since we mustn’t fall behind.
Stay connected- don’t want to miss out.
promiscuous/cities composes a symphony of a night in a big city where each of us is frantically maintaining the myth of ourselves we’ve created. Yet underneath the vision of us we peddle on social media – like! – there is an aching distance between us.
Playwright Lachlan Philpott asks: How can we know a city when we don’t even know ourselves?
Writer: Lachlan Philpott | Director: Alyson Campbell | Composer/Dramaturg: Meta Cohen

HEDDA GABLERGABLERGABLER [Melbourne, La Mama Courthouse, 2022]
A Paper Mouth Theatre production, dir. Mary Angley
A Competitive Deconstruction of Ibsen’s Greatest Heroine.
Hedda Gabler was a Feminist battle-cry in 1891, but 129 years later, do we need more stories about bourgeois angst and pretty-dead-women?
Each night, three women will compete against each other to decide who will play Hedda in each scene. The roles will not be predetermined. The competitions will be real.
Blurring the worlds of fiction and reality, Hedda GablerGablerGabler interrogates the actors’ personal dedication to this iconic part. Why are we so obsessed with Hedda? What does it mean to play her? And how should we interact with a literary canon that prioritises the experiences of the privileged?

THE MEDUSA PROJECT [Melbourne - in development]
A Liminal Theatre production, dir. Robert (Draf) Draffin
The Medusa Project explores survival and the cyclical violence of history, by colliding the myth of Medusa with the true story of the Raft of Medusa. It is an immersive, poetic work, with the audience scattered through a gallery space containing performers, a grand piano, and vast, metaphoric images projected across all surfaces.
